Independent sitters, booked direct

Find a dog walker or pet sitter near you

Every sitter below runs their own business and publishes their own services, service area, and availability. You book with them directly - no marketplace commission, no middleman deciding who gets your dog.

What to check before you book a dog walker

Most sitters are sole traders doing good work. A short checklist keeps the good ones obvious and the risky ones visible.

Insurance and business cover
Ask to see public liability insurance that names group walks, key holding, and transport of animals if any of those apply. A policy that covers pet sitting in the owner's home is not the same as one that covers walking four dogs off lead.
Licensing for boarding and day care
Walking for payment is not a licensable activity in England, but keeping your dog overnight or through the working day at the sitter's own home is. Ask for the council licence number, the star rating, and the expiry date.
A written agreement and vet permission
A professional sitter will put rates, cancellation, key handling, photo permissions, and a spending limit for emergency vet care in writing before the first walk.
How they record your dog
Emergency vet contact, microchip number, allergies, reactivity notes, and off-lead consent should live somewhere the sitter can reach in the field, not in a screenshot on a phone.
